your data.
not our hobby.
BUMP is a small invite-only social app for coordinating repeat activities with friends.
what BUMP processes
If you request beta access at bump.cool, we store the email address you submit so we can administer TestFlight access and contact you about the BUMP beta. Submitting the form immediately opens Apple’s public TestFlight invitation.
We process an account identifier, your chosen profile name, your BUMP memberships, connections, invitations, BUMP activity, safety reports and blocks, notification settings, and device notification tokens so the app can work across your devices and with your friends. Your chosen profile photo stays on your device and is not uploaded to BUMP.
If you join a BOOM audio room, microphone audio is transmitted in real time through LiveKit Cloud to the people in that room. While the room is live, OpenAI processes the audio for live captions and short conversation-based jokes, including the optional spoken response when someone says “BUMP.” BUMP does not record room audio or retain room transcripts; generated API responses are requested without storage.
understanding what works
In our existing Supabase database, we record when an invitation is created or accepted, when Apple’s message composer reports it sent, and when someone taps the invitation page’s install or open button. A preview fetch does not count as a tap or a sent message. We also record days with an intentional BUMP and the first time two friends intentionally BUMP together, to understand invitation conversion and return usage. These records use account and BUMP identifiers, not address-book data, message contents, advertising identifiers, or cross-site cookies. Account deletion removes that account’s measurement records.
A person or messaging service with your unclaimed private invitation can preview its activity and your chosen profile name. The preview does not disclose the selected recipient’s contact details or the BUMP’s member list.
contacts
BUMP uses Apple’s one-person contact picker only when you choose it. Your address book is not uploaded. The selected person’s name may be stored privately to label their invitation. Phone numbers, email addresses, contact identifiers, and contact photos stay on your device; iOS uses the selected number to address your message.
where it goes
Supabase provides authentication, database, realtime, and server functions. LiveKit Cloud provides live audio and the room worker. OpenAI provides live transcription and the optional joke and voice features. Apple provides TestFlight, push notifications, Live Activities, and the Messages extension. These providers process limited data needed to deliver their services.
retention and control
We retain account and social data while your account is active and as needed for security and legal obligations. Invite links expire automatically. You can mute BUMPs, report content or behavior, block people, and manage blocked people in the app.
To permanently delete your account and associated data, open your profile and choose Delete Account. The in-app deletion removes your profile, connections, private BUMPs, memberships, invitations, activity, reports, blocks, and notification tokens. You do not need to contact support. To delete a beta-access email, request access, or ask a privacy question, email dakshbhatia@gmail.com.
kids and changes
BUMP is not directed to children under 13. We may update this policy as the beta changes; the date above will change when we do.
